Denman's half-brother Silverburn has not progressed as much as may have been anticipated since being switched to fences but has still shown a decent level of form this term, including when third to Joe Lively in the Feltham on Boxing Day and a reproduction of that effort may well suffice here, so he gets the vote ahead of Pancake and Dark Corner. The last mentioned has proven form with plenty of cut in the ground but does need to improve to trouble the selection so looks best watched. Sue Smith's Daldini has run better this term than last and has to be considered but is another that needs to improve, especially under his penalty. Of more interest may be Nick Gifford's Sobers, who looks to be going the right way and showed his liking for testing ground when successful at Chepstow earlier this month. Pancake should come on for his reappearance run at Sandown last month and has to be considered but preference is for Silverburn who is taken to open his account over fences.
