David O'Meara is making a name for himself and Mont Ras is doing his bit though a 6lb rise for landing a modest event at Pontefract may prove his undoing. Amazing Star scored over the C&D on soft ground in September and any rain would greatly aid his chances but Dazeen, who has also scored over the C&D, ran poorly when favourite here last time. Magic Cat loves some give in the ground and was brought with a powerful late run to snatch the spoils at the last meeting but it's yet another C&D winner, CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL, who gets the vote. Mick Easterby's charge has raced over longer distances since last August's success and will have been primed following a comeback run at Wolverhampton in April.
