Another Club Royal is selected ahead of Profowens and Midnight Gunner. Ginger McCain has had one of his best seasons in recent years and the Southport handler has been well represented by this horse throughout the year. He does have the tendency to hit a flat spot during his races but the Haydock straight should be ideal for him and he can give another good account of himself here. Profowens was a wide margin winner on his latest start and as ever, anything in the Trevor Hemmings colours is watched. The blinkers appeared to work the oracle and a bold bid can be expected from the top-weight. Midnight Gunner is a quirky sort. That said, he does go particularly well for Tony McCoy and if he sets off at a fair pace, he could be very difficult to reel in. Henry Daly's team are running well so Ironside is not ruled out. He never travelled at any stage at Warwick and is much better than the bare form suggests. Sir Cumference failed to 3 miles 7 furlongs on his last start but he ran encouragingly for a long way. His stable are going through something of a lean spell of late so some caution is advised. Runaway Bishop is a dour stayer in all sense of the words and may have preferred there to be even more cut in the ground. Dantes Back is still a maiden but Nigel Twiston Davies has had plenty of winners at Haydock in the past and the market is watched. Another Club Royal is at least consistent and can gain due reward here.
