In depth

Verdict

In what is not an easy race to weigh up, the vote goes to Finzi ahead of Pardini, Runaway Bishop and Contract Scotland. Mamideos won at Fakenham in March but has been disappointing since, but holds a chance if getting back to his best. Contract Scotland should be sharper for his Wetherby run and was a good winner at the same track in April. However, the form of that race has not worked out and the question is has the handicapper got him right? Pardini came good at Uttoxeter last time and, despite being raised four pounds for that win, can go well. Runaway Bishop has also proven consistent but, that said, was disappointing at Towcester last time when well supported. However, he did stay on again there late in the day and maybe he can be forgiven that effort and has the talented Gareth Horner claiming 10 pounds off his back. Finzi has been consistent from around today's mark and can also go well, while Vandante showed promise in two chase runs here although he needs to improve on them to score, but if back to the best of his Irish form of two years would have to be considered. Coastguard did pretty well for Charlie Mann 18 months ago and would hold claims if back to that level of form although is hard to fancy on recent efforts. Overall, then, the vote goes to Finzi.
