The handicapper didn't take kindly to Statutory's wide-margin win over 2m at Chester, raising him 10lb. Renew was put up 5lb for a short-head defeat over 1m4f here last month but is probably still improving and preferred to luckless stablemate Shalwa, who races from out of the handicap along with Red Runaway. Alwilda let supporters down when odds-on at Ripon but NEARLY CAUGHT is still heading in the right direction and wouldn't be inconvenienced by the going. He gets the vote, though Lemon Pearl improved again to score at Chester and gave the impression this slightly longer trip would suit her even more.
