Jake Black won so easily at Wetherby that a follow-up is very much on the cards, with only Swan Knight appearing to offer any resistance. Jake Black does have to carry a seven-pound penalty for his Wetherby success, but the manner in which it was achieved leads us to believe that John Quinn's four-year-old has plenty more to give. He had little difficulty in handing out a 23 length beating to the favourite, Gary's Pimpernel and a similar effort should be enough for this versatile animal who may even go chasing later on in the season. Swan Knight is twice the age of the selection and does not have nearly as much scope. He travelled well for quite a way before succumbing to Middlethorpe at Wetherby on the same day that Jake Blake hacked up on the card, and looks best of the rest, but is worth taking on. Of the others, Goss makes some appeal, having been in touch when falling four out at Cheltenham last time. Tony McCoy will do well to get him home under topweight though, and we much prefer the claims of Jake Black.
