The David Nicholls-trained Bahamian Pirate took advantage of favourable race conditions to win at Nottingham earlier in the season but this looks tougher and, with the ground faster than ideal for him, preference is for Steenberg, who is given the verdict over Mister Links. The last mentioned failed to blossom for Godolphin last year and, while there may be improvement to come from a horse that has not been seen since last season's 2,000 Guineas, a safer bet looks to be Steenberg. The Mark Tompkins-trained gelding is entitled to strip fitter for his reappearance second in the Gladness Stakes last month, his stable is in good form and ground conditions should suit. Very few of the others can be given a realistic chance of winning with Tom Tun probably the pick of the remainder in a race that is taken to go to Steenberg.
