        Verdict

        Last year's winner Riponian set too strong a pace here earlier in the month and faded in the closing stages. But he is handicapped to stage a repeat and shouldn't be far away if ridden with more restraint today. Jocks Wa Hae has been saddled with a 9lb weight rise for winning over a slightly longer trip here just under two weeks ago but should again beat fourth Incurs Four Faults. WHITKIRK is an interesting alternative as his latest third at Thirsk was a huge step up on previous efforts. Further progress here would put the three-year-old bang in the picture and the handicapper is finally beginning to show Opt Out a little mercy.
