with winner, ridden over 2f out, no extra inside final furlong
made all, ridden over 1f out, stayed on well
A sounder underfoot surface may see Taazur in a more positive light, and his trainer is searching for a hat-trick of wins in this race, however the same applies to Paul Blockley's Grand Stitch and he gets the nod. The selection was really well-backed recently but he failed to quicken in the soft ground. Assuming that these conditions stay good or quicker then he can improve, and the form of his first outing still reads very well. Verinco was on his way to victory over this course and distance recently until he jinked and unseated his jockey near the line. He wears the blinkers today and looks an obvious danger, although it remains to be seen how good that race was last time. Newcomers Mister Laurel and Montmartre must both be afforded respect; both come from capable stables and the market will help guide to their chances. Montmartre is well-related and his breeding stands out slightly more than Mister Laurel. Taazur ran no sort of race last time and has something to prove now so preference is for Grand Stitch.
