Persian Moon edges this at the weights after running well in tough handicaps over longer trips at Ascot. But he came up short in Listed company at Goodwood back in May despite the favourable terms and is taken on with MACKAAR. The latter just missed out at Newbury despite the slow ground and the saddle slipping and there looks more to come from him. The Hannon yard has won two of the last three renewals but Leroy Leroy ran poorly in last week’s John Smith’s Cup at York and headgear is applied while Sameem won a handicap at Ripon recently but like Southern Rock and Aspire Tower, has plenty to find at the weights.
