In depth

Verdict

Nelsons Column, Miss Wedge and Charming Ballet are three against the field in this maiden and the confident vote is given to Nelsons Column. The selection was a good second on his debut behind Just Intersky. He is sure to have learnt from the experience and given nominal improvement he will be hard to beat. Miss Wedge rates the main danger on her latest fourth behind Violet Ballerina but the drop in trip has to be of concern. Charming Ballet is another with place claims on her fourth behind Balthazaar's Gift as the step up in trip looks sure to suit. Of the remainder, Weekend Fever is from a yard that can do no wrong at present with his two-year-old's and is sure to him improve, but his overall profile leaves him with a little to find and for the winner we return to Nelsons Column.
