NORTHERN SPIRIT has had all but one of his seven starts on Tapeta and has scored twice at Newcastle. He takes a slight step up in class from last month's victory but looks the one to beat. Storm Venture produced a couple of decent runs in soft-ground nurseries in the autumn but hasn't run since October. American Affair needed every yard when landing a 7f novices' race at Wetherby then found a Class 4 York handicap a bit too hot while Rock Of England hasn't made the expected progress from last season where he had a debut success at Thirsk. Borough and Royal Mariner need to improve on what they have been showing.
