KHARBETATION looked one to follow when bolting up on his debut in 2016 but he’s proved disappointing overall, though this intermediate distance could be ideal and he hinted at a revival at Ripon last month. If he settles here, he could be the value against likely favourite Zabeel Star. Karen McLintock’s top weight won easily over a slightly shorter trip here last time but is 7lb higher and has no form on ground with some give. Aasheq is a danger as he’s done well since joining Tim Easterby, winning at Chester 11 days ago. Novelty Seeker is capable of better but Pioneering is still paying the price for last year’s exploits. Chinese Spirit will like the going and The Moore Factor may be best of the rest as Andok would need cheekpieces to have a big impact.
Zabeel Star (IRE) 5-1 (8-13) Dwelt, held up in last pair, headway over 3f out, led over 2f out, driven clear inside final furlong, easily, won at Hamilton 1m hcp (4) gf in May beating Aclimatise (9-4) by 3 1/2l, 8 ran.
Novelty Seeker (USA) 50-1 (9-6) Held up and always towards rear, last of 12, 9 1/4l behind Fast Dancer (9-2) at Chester 1m 2f hcp (3) gd in May.
Pioneering (IRE) 7-1 (9-5) Dwelt held up, pushed along 5f out, never on terms, 8th of 15, 18 3/4l behind Gulf Of Poets (9-7) at Pontefract 1m hcp (4) gs in Apr.
Kharbetation (IRE) 20-1 (9-0) Keen led over 8f out, ridden and headed over 1f out, kept on same pace, 4th of 7, 4 1/4l behind Mutamaded (9-9) at Ripon 1m 2f hcp (3) gd in May.
Aasheq (IRE) 9-2 (8-9) Mid-division, headway over 2f out, chased leaders over 1f out, led entering final furlong, ran on well, won at Chester 1m 2f hcp (4) gd in May beating Mukhayyam (9-7) by 1 1/2l, 8 ran.
Andok (IRE) 17-2 (9-7) Chased leader who went clear halfway, closed over 2f out, lost 2nd inside final 2f, soon slightly hampered and weakened, 8th of 10, 9 3/4l behind Dream Machine (9-7) at Windsor 1m 2f hcp (4) gd in May.
Rock N Rolla (IRE) 8-1 (8-13) Led 1f, chased leader, ridden over 1f out, no extra, 4th of 7, 7 1/4l behind Club Wexford (9-1) at Ayr 1m hcp (4) gf in May.
Chinese Spirit (IRE) 9-2 (9-1) Close up, led over 2f out, ridden and headed over 1f out, kept on one pace, 2nd of 10, 9l behind Rockwood (8-11) at Musselburgh 1m 1f hcp (5) gd in Jun.
The Moore Factor (IRE) 25-1 (9-10) Mid-division early, closer in 6th approaching halfway, soon effort, kept on same pace from over 1f out, 5th of 12, 6 1/4l behind Maths Prize (9-10) at Curragh 1m hcp hvy in May.
