Pat Haslam has had to be patient with the four-year-old Alto Vertigo but that patience should be rewarded with the gelding getting the vote to go one better than on his recent flat debut and he gets the vote ahead of Optical Illusion and Golden Topaz. The last mentioned has ability but is becoming expensive to follow so Howard Johnson's filly looks best watched. Similar comments apply to Eric Alston's Zamalik, while Linda Perratt's Ancient Pride makes only limited appeal on his debut. Ian Semple's Optical Illusion has claims on the pick of his form but is inconsistent and a better bet looks to be the lightly raced Alto Vertigo who gets the vote.
