      Verdict

      Somewhat held on for third in the Eclipse at Sandown having poached an early lead and may be flattered by the bare form. Scotland is preferred having finished just ahead of Snow Sky when third in a Group 2 at Ascot. The latter has the beating of Windshear on a line through his earlier victory in the Lingfield Derby Trial where he also beat Red Galileo. Ed Dunlop's charge has since finished a respectable fifth in the Derby. Aryad never figured in the French Derby last time and Cloudscape makes more appeal stepping up in trip after a fourth in the Group 3 Tercentenary at Ascot when easily beating Somewhat. But the vote goes to OBSERVATIONAL, whose track knowledge should stand him in good stead and may well have improved since landing a Listed event here in May.
