In depth

Verdict

Society Lion has been a beaten favourite in both starts this year and has been done no favours by a 5lb rise and a high draw. Battered reappears on a potentially-lenient mark and Ralph Beckett’s course and distance winner is worth a market check. Deep Intrigue won at Newmarket on his penultimate start and may be a better bet than stablemates Asdaa and Mountain Brave with the latter carrying a penalty and upped in class. Mottrib makes his handicap debut but this is a very competitive affair for one with little experience. DIRTY RASCAL is back on the same mark as when landing this 12 months ago. Two of his three runs this year have been over 6f and he may well have been aimed at the contest again – Tom Ward’s charge has a good draw. The in-form Arigato looks the pick of the remainder.
