SO BELOVED (NAP) won this last year and looks the one to beat again this time round. David O’Meara’s charge chased home Nemoralia in a Group 3 at York last week and is fancied to confirm that running with third Jallota. The latter was not far behind at York, however, and finished ahead of the frustrating Convey in the Hungerford at Newbury before that when the latter looked less than straightforward, though Ryan Moore is back on board today. Breton Rock won the Criterion Stakes at Newmarket in June but would prefer softer ground while Tashweeq makes his belated reappearance having ended last year with a modest effort in a Group 1 in France. The remainder have something to find on these terms though Code Red has a shout on last year’s best form.
