In depth

Verdict

The short list for this fillies' maiden contains Maid Of Vale, Crystal Gazer, Gib, and Cosmopolitan Lady, with the vote going to Crystal Gazer. Maid Of Vale showed some debut promise and could go well. World's Heroine is by Spinning World and cost 40,000 guineas, so is of interest. Gib needs to step up on her debut. Crystal Gazer has shown ability on all three starts and sets the benchmark for the form of the race and is considered. Cosmopolitan Lady was not disgraced on her Newmarket debut in a reasonable contest so is not without hope. The Pat Eddery-trained Lapina is one to look at in the betting, but it would be hard to be strong on Peter Chapple-Hyam's Dora Explora as she cheaply-acquired. All in all, not a straightforward race, and Crystal Gazer is taken to finally get her head in front.
