Verdict

Askaud was racing for Dandy Nicholls for the first time when finishing second to Beatrice Aurore, who runs in the following race, over the C&D and couldn't quite contain the finishing burst of the winner. The handicapper has raised her 6lb for the run which seems a bit unkind to say the least but her trainer doesn't waste diesel on false hopes so she should definitely run well again. Club Oceanic has done all of racing on Polytrack to date but there's no reason why he shouldn't be as effective on turf. He wasn't beaten far by Indian Jack at Kempton and a line through the winner gives him the edge over Coax, though the latter looked a typical Mark Johnston improver at Beverley. TROPICAL BEAT is progressing nicely and showed battling qualities to score at Newcastle and again when just beaten by Samurai Sword at Ascot. There's more to come and he can get back to winning ways.
