MONS CALPE is taken to win the opener. The Paul Cole-trained pick stays further than this 1m 3f trip, which augurs well on a track that can certainly be a test. He just edged home over slightly further at Bath last time, acts on fast ground and may well be capable of defying a 5lb rise with a good pilot up. Aragall was the comfortable winner of a 10f Nottingham handicap in July and went well enough when beaten two lengths last time in his bid to defy a 7lb rise. From the same mark he should be thereabouts. Megalala goes well at this racecourse and both trip and ground suit. He would not be winning out of turn and is not dismissed, while Eseej has yet to win on turf and despite some consistency is taken on.
