La Chicaluna, The Betchworth Kid and Distant Charm are the three for the shortlist and we are with La Chicaluna. James Given's charge has not been campaigned at the top tracks but has demonstrated a really likeable attitude in the process of two victories despite any concerns about the going. A Pontefract and Chester double is a difficult thing to do given the difference between the tracks so Goodwood should hold no ills. The Betchworth Kid turned an apparently ordinary maiden at Brighton into a procession. There should be more to come. Distant Charm is a son of sire of the moment, Distant Music. Richard Hannon's challengers always have to be respected at this level. Meeriss was probably outclassed at Epsom but does have bags of early pace. Silver Wind appeared to fully appreciate the fast ground at Folkestone but probably had to thank an abysmal ride on the second for that recent victory. Coasting is much better than his run in the Coventry Stakes suggests and the drop in class is welcomed. A typically competitive heat and La Chicaluna looks the one most open to progression off their current mark.
