Three-year-olds have had much the better record in recent years having won seven of the last nine renewals. Fans of Churchill will need to forgive his very disappointing effort behind Barney Roy in the St James's Palace Stakes to consider supporting him again. He'd beaten that winner, and the two that followed him, earlier including in the 2000 Guineas before following up at the Curragh so what went wrong at Ascot is anyone's guess. That obviously wasn't his form but he faces a formidable opponent here in the shape of RIBCHESTER. Richard Fahey's stable star is getting better with age and probably should have won this a year ago. His latest victory in the Queen Anne Stakes was his best to date though his narrow defeat by Minding in the QEII came close and he can have the edge on his younger rival. French challenger Zelzal probably found firm going against him at Chantilly and the lightly-raced son of Sea The Stars is better judged on last summer's victory in the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat there, though he faces stronger opposition this time. Lancaster Bomber looks best of the remainder though is unlikely to get the better of his stable companion this time.
