Verdict
Dermot Weld has won eight of the last ten, almost all of them short-priced favourites. Newcross didn't do enough on his debut at Navan to suggest he'll be a market leader but his trainer's dominance of this event and the lack of credible opposition make him difficult to oppose. However, the year older KATIYMANN made a belated racecourse debut at Fairyhouse earlier this month and almost made a successful start, just succumbing in the closing stages over that 7f trip. He looks the one to be on with the longer trip certain to suit and that experience behind him. Bromance finished in front of Newcross in that Navan event so he's an obvious contender but the remainder have little to recommend them.
