Verdict

AP McCoy won this back in 1997 and has been booked for Tony Martin's Thomas Edison so, with the stable flying and a recent run to put him straight, he should go well. Martin also runs Ted Veale and the formbook suggests he has more of a chance as the betting should reflect. A winner on the Flat at Bellewstown last month, the County Hurdle winner has done superbly so far over timber and there's every possibility he'll end up better than a 144-rated handicapper. Moon Dice beat Fosters Cross in this ultra-competitive handicap in 2011 but is held by Make Your Mark on latest running at Cork and the latter has to enter the equation though Ruby Walsh has chosen to ride PIQUE SOUS for Willie Mullins and he's given the nod. He was behind Ted Veale on the Flat last time but was conceding 7lb and his preparation will have been timed to perfection. Rock Critic easily landed a maiden hurdle here a year ago though whether his overall form justifies a mark of 146 is another matter but Grade 3 winner Missunited has been in good form on the level and doesn't look harshly treated so should give a good account.
