With the exception of SPRING STEEL, it's hard to be overly confident about any of these. Alex Dunn's former pointer has won his last two under Rules with the minimum of fuss and can defy a big hike in the weights and a step up in grade against out-of-form opposition. Town Mouse isn't always foot-perfect and has a poor strike-rate but may still be the one for forecast-backers with The Yank stopping quickly last month at Market Rasen. Stablemates Vexillum and The Bay Bandit also need more.
Vexillum (IRE) 8-1 (11-7) Held up towards rear, weakened before 4 out, tailed off, 5th of 6, 29 1/2l behind Canicallyouback (11-12) at Newton Abbot 2m hcp (4) gf in Jul.
The Bay Bandit 20-1 (11-12) Held up towards rear, ridden and weakened from 3 out, 7th of 9, 33 3/4l behind Phantom Prince (11-10) at Newton Abbot 2m 1f hcp (4) gf in Jul.
Town Mouse 14-1 (11-9) Mid-division, closed after 5th, outpaced after 3 out, soon weakened, 5th of 10, 35 3/4l behind Ruaraidh Hugh (11-12) at Market Rasen 2m 7f hcp (4) gd in Jul.
The Yank 9-2 (10-12) Led, soon 10 lengths clear, headed 6th, under pressure when hit 8th, soon weakened, behind when pulled up 3 out, at Market Rasen 2m 1f hcp (4) gd in Jul.
Edlomond (IRE) 9-1 (10-12) Chased leaders, took keen hold, challenged on home bend, ridden and no impression 2 out, weakening when not fluent last, 5th of 8, 29 1/4l behind Claude Carter (11-5) at Market Rasen 2m 1f (5) gd in Aug.
