WATHEEQ's defeat of Fennell Bay at Haydock last month could hardly have worked out any better as the runner-up went on to win at Sandown before landing the King George V Stakes at Ascot off a 7lb higher mark. Roger Varian's lightly-raced gelding is likely to start at restrictive odds here. Fellow three-year-old Emperor Vespasian could improve for the fitting of blinkers but veteran Foxhaven faces a tall task conceding weight all round and Whitby Jet usually finds one too good. Laverre was due to run at Yarmouth yesterday so Red Lover is probably best of the rest ahead of last month's Kempton winner Understory.
