France has supplied the last two winners of this and they're both back for another crack. Dunaden was victorious last year with 2010 winner, Americain, back in fourth. The former came out best again when landing the Group 1 Caulfield Cup over 1m4f last month but neither can be easily dismissed today. Red Cadeaux was beaten only a nose in last year's renewal and re-opposes on better terms with the winner. Ed Dunlop's charge has obvious claims on that form but fellow Newmarket trainer Luca Cumani is fancied to land this year's prize with MOUNT ATHOS. The latter has done nothing but improve this season winning all three starts including an impressive victory in the Geoffrey Freer at Newbury last time. His yard has gone agonisingly close in this race twice before but the five-year-old is taken to go one better from a good draw. Stablemate My Quest For Peace and Jakkalberry have a bit to find on Caulfield Cup running but Cavalryman looks the type to go well while Dermot Weld has won this twice before so Galileo's Choice may reward an each-way interest. Group 2 winner Fiorente has joined Gai Waterhouse and has a shout along with others of the home contingent including Ethiopia, Green Moon, and 2010 runner-up Maluckyday though recent Caulfield Cup third Lights Of Heaven could have been better drawn.
