          Verdict

          Horses trained in Europe have won four of the last eight and though not numerically well represented this time have strong chances with the likely favourite Deauville Legend and the prolific Without A Fight. The latter won York's Group 3 Silver Cup in July though that was on fast going but James Ferguson's three-year-old won the Group 2 Sky Bet Voltiguer on the Knavesmire in the style of a high-class performer with more to offer though he's never raced on soft ground. Gold Trip, originally trained in France, will like the conditions and ran a superb race to be beaten a head in the Caulfield Cup while Epsom Derby runner-up Hoo Ya Mal is now trained at the Gai Waterhouse establishment. Serpentine, the 2020 Epsom hero, is now with Robert Hickmott and ran a cracker in the Archer Stakes here on Friday. MONTEFILIA won the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes on heavy ground in March and was unlucky in the Caulfield Cup. She's been trained for this and gets the nod with Realm Of Flowers an each-way alternative in ground conditions she'll love.
