John Portman's Joe Packet seems to be in the grip of the handicapper after completing a hat-trick last month, while the Michael Jarvis-trained Cansili Star disappointed at Goodwood last month and is hard to back with confidence. Hugh Morrison's Duster has paid the penalty at the hands of the handicapper for his win at Folkestone in June and it is hard to get away from DESERT POPPY. Walter Swinburn's filly has done little wrong in three starts this term, winning at Windsor on her reappearance and at Newbury last time and only beaten by the narrowest of margins at the Berkshire venue in between those successes. Admittedly she has gone up 11lb for her latest success but she won with plenty in hand and can score again. The David Evans-trained Star Rover seems a shade high in the weights, while Sunraider has faced no easy task following his win at Haydock in June.
