MIDNIGHT GOLD is chanced at the expense of Paradise Expected and Rocky Lane. Peter Bowen's string are in fair nick at present and while Midnight Gold is better known as a chaser, his hurdling mark is some way below that of the chasing rating and we are hopeful that he can take full advantage of that anomaly. Paradise Expected stays three miles with few issues and this likeable mare is sure to run her race. Rocky Lane has a fairly stout pedigree so there has to be some hope that he will get the extra distance. Strand Line had shown a modicum of ability for Phillip Rothwell in Ireland prior to joining current connections. From an unfashionable yard, he is likely to be a couple of points bigger than his form allows. Walls Way won impressively at this course in March and is sure to be popular under a small rise for those labours. Plenty of plausible winners but Midnight Gold might just have the element of class required.
