Paul Flynn sends Boxer Beat across the Irish Sea and his chance is greatly respected, though his career record of 1-60 is off-putting. Sedgemoor Express has won three of his last four starts over fences and hurdles, including one here in June. But he's gone up another 7lb since scoring at Worcester and FALCARRAGH is just as interesting having only lost out by a short-head in this grade at Newton Abbot last time. The latter has the greater scope and makes more appeal than Wester Ross and Gracchus, who might be in the handicapper's grip now.
Falcarragh (IRE) 9-1 (11-12) Held up in rear, not fluent 4th, headway 4 out, challenged 2 out, soon led, idled badly and hung right flat, headed last strides, 2nd of 8, hd behind Porters War (11-2) at Newton Abbot 2m 5f hcp chs 0-125 (3) gf in Jul.
Sedgemoor Express (IRE) 7-4 (11-1) Took keen hold, disputed lead, tended to jump right, hit 8th, went on approaching 4 out, driven next, ridden and ran on flat, won at Worcester 2m hcp chs 0-140 (3) gf in Jul beating Violets Boy (10-7) by 1 3/4l, 5 ran.
Wester Ross (IRE) 7-1 (11-3) Chased leaders, outpaced 3 out, stayed on approaching last, never a threat, 3rd of 6, 10l behind Dealing River (10-8) at Southwell 2m hcp hdl 0-120 (4) gd in Jul.
Boxer Beat (IRE) 9-1 (11-1) Soon tracked leaders, 7th after 4 out, no impression and one pace from next, 8th of 19, 25l behind Diamondgeezer Luke (10-11) at Cork 2m 3f hcp hdl 80-109 gd.
Gracchus (USA) 7-2 (11-6) Held up in rear, headway halfway, soon chasing leaders, stayed on under pressure to go 2nd approaching last, never reached winner, 2nd of 7, 4 1/2l behind Nikos Extra (11-7) at Bangor 2m 1f hcp chs 0-115 (4) gd.
