In depth

Verdict

Out Sam, Firebird Flyer and Kris Spin may all be having a confidence-booster having struggled over fences lately but Minella Aris, a winner at Southwell in November, is lightly raced and so is Perform. The latter has had just the three career starts and has hard to train but it’s significant that his trainer has brought him back out at this stage of the season. VERYGOODVERYGOOD has to go on the short-list as he was already a course winner before just failing to peg back Never Equalled over 2m4f here last month. He was raised 4lb for that but can get the better of Doncaster scorer Rocky's Treasure, who is 8lb higher, and Going For Broke.
