Course and distance winner William Hogarth is thrown in on his best form but it's a very long time since he actually got his head in front, though didn't run badly on the all-weather last month. Commitment's runs in the autumn suggest he's too high in the weights but Kapricorne has claims on his latest third at Chepstow and makes more appeal than Prince Pippin and Crazy Jane. HEURTEVENT was quietly fancied when finishing a place ahead of Chankillo at Taunton 12 days ago. He was staying on well at the death so the longer trip should suit and he may be the one to beat.
