In depth

Verdict

WEST WIZARD didn’t do himself justice in a handicap at Wetherby last time but likes it here and won over a slightly longer trip at the track on his penultimate start. He is unproven on going this heavy but so is likely market rival Dueling Banjos. Kim Bailey’s charge does receive 7lb, however, and it may be significant that he was withdrawn from a race over further at Leicester yesterday to come here. Only a pound separates the aforementioned pair and Wadswick Court according to official ratings but Peter Bowen’s more-exposed runner is returning from a break. Never Equalled would also have a chance on his second at Bangor in November but he’s finished a tailed-off last in both starts since.
