Verdict

A small field but at least three of these look competitive and the vote goes to Dusky Lord to get the better of Mr Pointment and Dearson. The selection has won three of his six starts, including on good to soft, and got every yard of 2m 3f at Fontwell last time. This extra furlong should pose no problems, he jumps well and looks capable of giving weight and a beating to the others. Mr Pointment is probably his biggest danger. Charlie Egerton's gelding also has a 50 per cent win ratio, and although he didn't run terribly badly last time, he was definitely below par and has a bit to prove now. Dearson has conditions and trip to suit and may well be able to expose any chinks in the armour of the other pair. However, his form thus far suggests he needs to find a few pounds to trouble the selection, and we will stick with Dusky Lord to take the prize.
