Verdict

CARRUTHERS picks himself here with Carrick Oscar the only possible threat. There is always the added complication that Carruthers won't be suited by this idiosyncratic circuit but he is head and shoulders above the opposition on all known form. Connections were a little disappointed with his chase debut defeat at Uttoxeter but the winner has gone on to prove himself to be a fair sort and those behind were no slouches. Carrick Oscar didn't look all that enthusiastic at times at Fontwell and it will be interesting to see if he travels with more zest on this occasion. He's a useful sort who promises to be suited by this longer trip and hasn't had much racing for his years but he has a bit to prove after that latest performance. Ballyboley has achieved more than the remainder and may be able to pick up third spot but Carruthers should be able to win this in a canter.
