In depth

Verdict

Bonobo has run well in his two starts since unseating his rider at the start on his debut at Galway while Curley Bill showed massive improvement from his opening run when runner-up on heavy ground at Roscommon three weeks ago. Notorious Villain couldn't handle the finishing burst of Ally Cascade here last time but the winner looks useful and with more progress to come it will be a surprise if Michael Mulvaney's charge isn't in the firing line. EXPANDING UNIVERSE made his debut at Leopardstown's Christmas meeting and though not quite coming up to expectations behind Ballycasey that looked a strong event and, as we saw at Ascot on Saturday, Dermot Weld has no problems getting one ready after an absence.
