General Principle mugged Isleofhopendreams on the line in this last year with Forever Gold very close behind in third and Arkwrisht not too far back in sixth after being impeded at the last. The winner, one of a dozen Gordon Elliott-trained entries this year, is 5lb higher and hasn't completed the last twice but the runner-up looks to have been aimed for the race having finished runner-up to stable companion Pairofbrowneyes over 3m at Naas last month. Ruby Walsh could have ridden either of the aforementioned pair but has gone for the very progressive novice BURROWS SAINT, who has a 7lb penalty for a Grade 3 victory at Limerick but who could turn out to be a high-class stayer so a mark of 144 may prove very lenient. Jessica Harrington has struck form at the right time and Leopardstown Grade A winner Whisperinthebreeze is an improving youngster on a decent mark while Tout Est Permis completed his hat-trick with a victory in a Thurles Grade 2 in January and has had a nice break. Any Second Now landed a touch at Cheltenham and is another progressive type though this is a tougher race and he's 7lb higher. Auvergnat ran poorly behind Tiger Roll at Cheltenham but won the Paddy Power at Leopardstown previously when several of these were behind. Jonjo O'Neill is no stranger to winning this and Minella Rocco has dropped to his lowest mark since scoring at Cheltenham in 2016.
