In depth

Verdict

Miss Midnight is a consistent sort, Early Wings and Oh Braga are potential improvers whilst Double The Trouble and Lord Lieutenant won well last time but we're going to side with Petito. The selection was no great shakes on the Flat but he's threatening to make up into a better hurdler and improved for each of his three starts in novice events. He took a further step forwards when third behind Majaales, a winner since, at Chepstow and a similar performance this afternoon should be enough to see him involved in the finish. The market should be revealing in respect of Early Wings and Oh Braga but Double The Trouble has already shown his hand in beating Lord Lieutenant by 9 lengths over course and distance at the start of the month. He's weighted to confirm the form with the runner-up despite having to race from a 15lb higher mark this afternoon and looks sure to go well. However, we'll come back to Petito for the winner.
