It's almost two years since PERFECT SUMMER recorded her one and only career victory in an apprentices' handicap on the Flat. But she showed she retains some ability when staying on late to finish second at Stratford earlier this month and this more testing track should suit better. Her stable is in cracking form and the mare is preferred to Mother Meldrum, third in a non-seller over track and trip two weeks ago. Vering is a long-standing maiden who never seems to run two races alike but Mount Shamsan may be better than he's shown so far over timber and Mr Caffrey was sent off favourite for his hurdling debut at Fontwell on Boxing Day, though was well beaten.
