Verdict

There will be some long faces around Ditcheat if ALCALA doesn't go close on his reappearance. He only had one run for the Nicholls team last season but that came in a Grade 2 at Kempton and he stayed on nicely without having the pace to get involved. He'll need further than this in time but won't fail through lack of fitness today. Another French import, Aso, is also among several potentially useful novices lining up here. Hurricane Vic is another and Hello George won an above-average bumper at Sandown a year ago. City Supreme may prove the pick of Anthony Honeyball's trio while Crazy Jack and Moncarno are also worth monitoring. Daveron won at Taunton in April but could find this tough under a penalty over a shorter trip.
