        Verdict

        Beaver Patrol is taken to defy topweight at the expense of Purus, Idle Power and Steel Blue. With a plumb draw in stall one, Beaver Patrol should make a bold bid to get back to winning ways after finishing just five lengths behind Baltic King in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot. Prior to that commendable effort, Fulke Johnson-Houghton's charge had beaten a large field over the course-and-distance, including Idle Power who was fourth. The latter is now slightly better off at the weights, but is not as well drawn and looks just about held again. Ex-German Purus gained his first victory in this country when scoring over seven furlongs on the Kempton Polytrack a fortnight ago, but has more to do in this company, but Steel Blue in contrast is well treated these days, and ran a sound race when fourth at York last time. Fantasy Believer has not won since landing this race 12 months ago, and although lower down the weights now, is held by the selection on recent running here. Beaver Patrol is the one that they have to beat.
