The weight-for-age concession should swing things ASHDAN's way and the three-year-old gets the vote to take care of his older rivals. He made a promising reappearance when second in Listed company over a mile at Newmarket recently and breeding suggests there should be plenty more to come over middle-distances. However, he still has last year's winner Cameron Highland to beat and, though the latter has been a shade below his best so far this season, he's rated much higher than Cayuga and Freddy Q with the latter pair likely to be destined to fight it out for the minor place money.
Cameron Highland (IRE) 7-2 (9-0) Tracked leader, switched to centre 4f out and led this trio, ridden over 2f out, every chance inside final furlong, kept on one pace, last of 4, 3 1/2l behind Lost In The Moment (9-0) at Newmarket 1m 4f Listed Stakes (4yo+) (1) gd in Jun.
Cayuga 7-1 (9-0) Towards rear, headway on inner entering final 2f, ridden and kept on same pace final furlong, 5th of 10, 4 1/2l behind Clowance Estate (9-4) at Sandown 1m 2f hcp 0-90 (3) gd in Jun.
Freddy Q (IRE) 14-1 (9-1) Tracked leader, led after 1f and set very slow pace, jinked left halfway, quickened tempo inside final 3f, joined 2f out, soon headed, weakened quickly over 1f out, 9th of 10, 10l behind Sir Boss (8-3) at Kempton 1m 3f hcp 0-85 (4) pol in Jun.
Ashdan 10-3 (9-3) Tracked leaders, headway to lead narrowly over 2f out, ridden and headed entering final furlong, soon outpaced, 2nd of 4, 2l behind Montiridge (9-6) at Newmarket 1m Listed stks 3yo (1) gf in Jul.
