Gathering Power missed the break in the opening juvenile race of the Turf season at the Curragh on Sunday but showed enough potential to suggest she will go well here. That race was won by Jim Bolger's heavily supported Dawn Approach and the trainer runs Verbal Honesty here and she's a half-sister to a 2yo winner so should have plenty of pace. It's a surprise to see Stan Moore sending a runner here so the cheaply-bought Tiger Sunset has to be respected but a chance is taken with TOCCATA BLUE, the first foal of a very speedily-bred mare and from a yard who get them ready early.
Toccata Blue (IRE) Verglas colt out of Jinxy Jill.
Tiger Sunset (IRE) Balmont colt out of Zuccini Business.
Angela's Dream (IRE) Chineur filly out of Church Mice.
Gathering Power (IRE) 14-1 (9-0) Dwelt a bit, waited with, closed to track leaders approaching final furlong, switched and ridden inside final furlong, soon no impression, kept on same pace, 5th of 8, 2 1/2l behind Dawn Approach (9-5) at Curragh 5f 2yo mdn.
Verbal Honesty (IRE) Elusive City filly out of Tus Maith.
Versilia Gal (IRE) Footstepsinthesand filly out of Tuscany Lady.
