Royal Navy Ship has been a big disappointment but has only had five races, two at Group level, and makes his handicap debut. LEAN AND KEEN throws in the odd poor run but is generally consistent and produced an astonishing 15l victory on heavy going at Ballinrobe. The assessor has been very lenient with just a 3lb rise so a follow-up looks on the cards. Shalaman completed a course and sistance double in the spring but is 11lb higher and Naas winner Texas Rock has never raced beyond a mile. Golden Spear produced a superb run to finish runner-up to Clondaw Warrior in the lucrative Guinness Handicap at Galway and looks the main threat along with stablemate Shalamzar, who also finished runner-up at the Festival.
