In depth

Verdict

Habesh has been well supported on his last two starts but was beaten four lengths into third behind Cottesloe a fortnight ago. The Black Devil won here in August and has been narrowly beaten in recent starts, though over much shorter than this. Pivot Bridge has returned from a spell of hurdling in very good form and gained an emphatic victory over the track and trip a fortnight ago for which he's been hit with an 8lb rise. Carvelas had gone up to 70 without winning until landing a maiden three weeks ago but the veteran Regal Warrior gained his first all-weather victory in November and continued to run well before a poor effort over hurdles at Christmas. FIRST FRIDAY scored here in December and almost made all in a tougher race last month when caught close home by Papa's Way. He can go one better as though Juara is consistent enough she's now been beaten three times off this mark. Hareth returned to the Flat after a poor spell of hurdling to easily land a poor maiden here though faces a much stiffer test now.
