These are a moderate bunch to say the least. CALIFORNIA ROSE has finished runner-up a couple of times in much better races than this on Turf so, in the hope she can replicate those runs on this surface, she's given the nod. The Hamptons couldn't go much lower in the ratings and with Tom Madden using his claim he may be capable of getting into the frame. Phils Wish is still a maiden after 17 starts but hasn't been running too badly and has dropped 7lb in the weights since May. Atlas Peak has a good record around here and, though he enters the fray in poor form, he completed a double here in the spring and is well handicapped. Hilary has had 21 starts without winning but would be a big threat on her close third to Hoppsan last month.
