        Verdict

        MAFTOON (NAP) won on good to firm going at Nottingham in September and made an impressive reappearance at Chelmsford. The grey is still heading in the right direction and collateral form gives him the beating of Sir Michael Stoute's Darshini - a hat-trick beckons. Maiden winners Symbolic Star and Alfajer should be capable of further progress this season but Lingfield fourth Grand Spirit may be high enough in the weights at present and this is a step up for Sarsted and Get Knotted. Darrington started favourite here last month but was among the first beaten and has a bit to prove now.
