Verdict

Threat finally earned some black type when staying on strongly to land the Gimcrack at York but he has an extra furlong to cover here and also a 3lb penalty. JUNA ELCANO missed the break when only beaten a length by Mystery Power in the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket. The first two pulled well clear and Kevin Ryan’s colt can get back to winning ways here ahead of the more-exposed Ballydoyle pair Fort Myers and Royal Dornoch. Royal Crusade won a shade cosily on debut at Newmarket, despite running green. He has the most scope of these but this test may come a bit soon in his career.
