Verdict

Mont Ras blitzed his rivals from the front at York last month but had a 5lb claimer on board that day and is also 5lb higher here. His front-running tactics may not be as effective on this slower surface and you would expect stablemate Anderiego and Sandagiyr to get closer. As well as the latter Saeed bin Suroor, who is bidding for a hat-trick in this race, also runs PIED A TERRE. A Grade 2 winner on good to soft going in his native Australia last year, he's taken a while to acclimatise but only found Shebebi too good over 7f here last month and looks poised to recapture the winning thread. Ascription won't mind the ground but has gone up a further 4lb since finishing second at Haydock while the three-year-olds Ajraam and Stepping Ahead don't look particularly well treated. Levitate and Global Village were first and second in the Lincoln here in March but the former returns from a break today while the latter has been a little disappointing of late.
